Andrew Mendoza – Seasoned Product, UX, UI and Visual Designer

core discipline

User Research

I find that initiating qualitative user research provides the validation for authentic experiences. It is where we can stumble on valuable information to create continuous and seamless applications. It is through receiving information and empathy that we deliver relevant designs and experiences that are pleasurable.

Information Architecture

Making sense of information can be very challenging. Untangling data, grouping information and establishing hierarchy can help clear usability issues. I like to use sitemaps, user flow diagrams and taxonomy that can help guide design decisions to inform other designers, product managers and engineers.

Interaction Design

What is the task at hand? Can we minimize actions? Do users feel positive emotions? Are the patterns consistent and align well with our design values? These are the type of questions I ask myself when building interfaces. I find discovery through low fidelity wireframes, storyboards and rapid prototypes can provide a framework to build intuitive interactions.

Visual Design

Setting up a system of color, space and interaction are my goals of visual design. I like to balance design with color, line, shape and texture. Visual design can enhance a simple interaction with a subtleties. This is where I spend most of my time iterating. I strive to make visual designs that are long lasting and informative.
