The number one premier destination for PC gamers across the world. As the design lead I oversaw a hugely successful redesign and implemented methods of user testing. The main goal was to drive traffic numbers, increase engagement and connect the audience to the products they love.

The Rapid Platform – Spark

To accompany the redesign was a custom built content management system we called Spark. We built a publishing platform from scratch using Django. We overcame many challenges with migrating content. We created a new strategy around speeding up content delivery to meet the needs of rapidly deploying articles. The biggest challenge was taking care of existing users with a much needed massive redesign.

User Testing

User testing was facilitated carefully with it’s core audience in mind. Extracting information from user tests proved to be the most important learning experience. We managed to increase affiliate revenue up to 500% in many cases. Creating a hypothesis, listening to user behavior and meeting business needs created this successful product. We found that most of our users purchased products through Amazon and trusted their enormous database of user reviews. That help set our requirements and goals for the project. After a few iterations of user testing it was time to build. We iterated on a number of designs and created a enticing hero image for each product, a clear call to action, a quick description that expanded to view more information and the Amazon user review rating. That formula proved to be the difference maker and made possible by user testing.
